Mead Yeast Starter

Post by Liquid Blur »

Hey Guys,
Just a quick question. How do you suppose one would make a yeast starter with mead yeast? Do you suppose that you would just heat a small batch of honey and add bit of nutrient and energizer? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Definitely use the nutrient and Enigizer

You definitely need to use a nutrient and enigizer. I think the ratio is 3 tablespoons of honey, 1/2 tsp of nutrient and 1/2 tsp of enigizer to 16 oz. of water. make sure the honey has been placed into boiled water and disolved to "pastuerize".

Hey thanks man. I didn't think I was going to get a reply on that one. I'm going to make the starter tommorow. Later

It's going to be a rasberry flavored mead. I'm using White Labs Sweet Mead yeast.
