I'm quite happy with BTP and I'd like to continue using the software when we move from our test brewery to our 8bbl brewery. Has anybody else made that transition - any problems, advice, etc.?

I'm curious about this as well. I need to scale a recipe up for a 15 Bl batch.

I use it in a 4bbl brewery. Works great.

Justin -- did you ever scale up that 15bbl batch with BeerTools Pro? Am curious to hear about the results if you did...
And thanks for your reply as well roc-craven. Good to know.

I'd be interested in those tasty Cigar City beers in IL. FOBAB was just a tease.

I'll be at Cigar City today. I'll have a few for you.jawbox wrote:I'd be interested in those tasty Cigar City beers in IL. FOBAB was just a tease.
The only scaling issue I have found is hop utilization. The bigger the boil kettle the better the utilization seems to be. it's more like 125% utilization.
Re: BeerTools Pro in an 8bbl brewery
Roc-Craven, thanks for the input on utilization. I was assuming it would go up and I've noticed BTP drops a few ibu's as I scale up to 248 gallons. So, yes, I customized the Utilization editor - but was guessing at how much additional.
Cheers!

Re: BeerTools Pro in an 8bbl brewery
I did scale it up. numbers were pretty much dead on. Efficiency etc.. will obviously be different for every system. For ours (Premier Stainless 15 bbl) I set the volume at 17 bbls at ~83% Eff and everything worked out about right. Bitterness I figured about 125% but this beer was almost all late hops and no bittering addition, the first worts gave way more bitterness than anticipated though.
As for Chicago, probably not going to happen anytime soon, we can hardly keep up with FL. I'm glad I did talk them into sending some up for FOBAB at least. If I don't have my own place up and running by next year I'll make sure we send some up again, makes for a fun weekend trip.
