BeerTools vs. ProMash
Any comparisons? Any thoughts on the best home brew software on the market?
depends on what you are looking for. In my opinion BTP is a fantastic program for all grain brewing. Promash is also good although the interface is a little cumbersome and dated.
You could try the demo version and see which you prefer.

Promash vs Beer Tools Pro
I am new to this forum and probably can't find the appropriate link. I have used Promash for the past 18 months on my wife's PC. I got Beer Tools for use on my Mac. ProMash has a function that will estimate of the OG while you are formulating a receipe. I can't seem to find that function with Beer Tools. Is it there and I'm too dumb to find it?

OG estimate
If you have the Analysis tab selected just below the section where you enter the recipe, the OG will appear a little bit below that tab as you enter ingredients into the recipe.

BTP v2.0.* Windows XP
I have found the recipe calculator online and it is doing what I want. However, while off line the analysis tab calculates SRM, IBU without any problem. The OG that I see in the analysis tab is around 1.010 with a grain bill of 11.5 lb of grain. As I said, the online calculator works well. Off Line it looks as if I need to enter actual values.

Oxygen is bad?
Kettle volume is 6.96 gallon
Wort boil Duration 1.5 hr
Evaporation loss 2.25 gal
Water vol added 0.0
Final Vol @68 degrees 4.52
OG,TG,,and Alcohol areto the far left of the bar figureColor and Bitterness corespond with the online calculator.
Must I be on line to have the functionality of the beer tools?
I'm brewing tomorrow, wish me luck.

I finished my brew day. I decided to start over and reinput the recipe I had been having so much trouble with. The analysis worked without a hitch with all of the sliders being in the style guideline range. I don't know what the deal is. I input everything as I had done earlier. This time the program worked as advertised. I don't see how it could have been operator headspace, but ...it worked this time. I'll have to do more study. It's a good thing I plan on brewing next weekend.
