freezer to kegarator
I just received a 7.2 cu. ft chest freezer by magic chef and I want to convert it to a kegarator but I need a new temp control. Does anyone have any idea of the right one to get?

I bought this one and it seems to work just fine. I don't see what the advantage would be in spending more on a digital unit.

$59.99 Digital;)
I did a lot of research and this is the best bang for your buck. I got my first one and fried it out and contacted the company and sent it in. They sent me a new one really quick no questions asked
You can do heating and cooling with this one. The digital part rocks!

Side note
The digital comes with a electronic sensor. The manual one comes with a liquid filled bulb with a hollow tube to determine temperature. If the line gets kinked (as mine did) you have a useless piece of garbage. I ended up getting the digital.

used the same ranco listed above for about 3 years with no problems. I think the Johnson A419 is also another good digital controller.

you would need to wire the unit, unless you get a prewired unit. The controller plugs into your wall outlet, then the freezer plugs into the controller. Place the sensor inside the freezer and set your temp. The controller will then control the cycling of your freezer.

I think this thread cursed my ranco. It just died.
Here's the new controller.

That sucks!
Bummer man! That really blows.
Is there some kind of warranty on that?
If you haven't had it too long I would think they would replace it.

It lasted three years. The new controller appears to be working ok. Plus I get to try this one out as I might use them in a herms/brutus 10 build in the future.

There is a temperature controller in the eBay. You should check it right now before someone will get it. I am really interested to see pictures of your kegerator when it is already totally done.
Cough, three year old thread, cough.
