Ipa w/ lager yeast

what are the possible recipes modification necessary for using lager yeast for a high gravity ale contemplating using white labs 838 for an up coming brew

What are you trying to acheive by using a lager yeast, naturally an IPA is just that, a pale Ale, not that you cant make a strong hoppy lager....in the end I dont see there being too many recipe changes as much as how you brew and ferment the recipe.
