Aeration Stone

I recently bought an aquarium air pump, air hose and stone to aerate my wort. My first question is will a longer stone provide more air faster? The second is I assume I should sanitize both the air line and stone (I use oneStep) will this have any adverse effects on the stone?

Any suggestions for aeration would be appreciated.

Can you use a stone from a fish tank? The stones I have seen on beer sites are 0.5 micron.
