Kegs on the go

Post by Legman »

If you're taking your kegged beer places, like a party or camping, what ways are there to keep it cold besides a jockey box?
Build a special ice chest for the keg?

What's everyone doing?

Kegs on the go

Post by brewmeisterintng »

Personally my kegs don't go. I will fill a gallon jug to take to my friends house. They are more than welcome to come to my house and hit the taps.
I have seen someone on line with a modified trash can with tap built in s tower configuration. The CO2 can was on the groud outside. The can was filled with ice. The intent is not to chill five gallons; it is to keep five gallons cool.

I don't take the whole keg either. I either bottle a couple of six packs or break out the Tap A Draft. Another, though pricey, option would be to transport carbonated beer in a 2 1/2 gallon keg with a 20 oz CO2 bottle and regulator.
