Anyone Know The Equivalent To MoreBeer

Postby BlackPoint » Tue Feb 20, 2007 6:20 pm

Anyone? It says it is made from Alexanders but to my understanding Alexanders makes a few types of malt.

I am trying to determine what would the equivalent would be that's in the tools here on this site.

I am a complete newbie so any help would be great!

Hello BlackPoint!

Some of the malt Co's will make available to resellers only a few different kinds of extracts that would not be sold at the retail level. The Light Extract you are asking is probably one of these. It is my understanding that this particular extract is made from North Western Grain so that would be a start. Also, if you look at the extract information, pay attention to the SRM or color rating and perhaps you can find a comparable substitute. If not, you can always purchase that extract from B3 and be done with it. What kind of beer style are you looking to use this extract in? If only used as a base, I would have to say that any similiar extract would do fine.

Hope this helps!

It helps a little bit. I've already purchased the LME and used it (17 lbs worth!) in my first batch, a triple IPA!
