Repartition of wheat syrup in online recipe DB

Post by djavet »

Hello

I wish to know is when you make recipe in this online DB with liquid malt extract, you keep in mind the wheat repartition (60% wheat, 40% malt per exemple)?
I'm making a brand new recipe and I wish to know if I select the wheat syrup, I must compensate with malt or not.
How do you proceed?

I'm making a extract with speciality grains Wheat Ale with Lemongrass recipe.

Thx for your infos.

Wheat LME

In my opion you do not have to be concerned about the ratio. I think that the ratio exists because brewing malted wheat does not have a husk and will result in a stuck mash when all graining. Extract brewers shouldn't be concerned. There might be other brewers out there that have coments but that is my 2 cents.

Here is the formula

1 pound of base grain = .67lbs of Dry Malt Extract = .75lbs of Liquid Malt Extract.
This should give you the bases to convert an all grain recipe.
