Null in quantity field

Postby tjthresh » Wed Oct 25, 2006 9:39 pm

1. select a grain and add to the grain list.
2. Highlight the grain and make the quantity null.
3. Leaving the grain quantity null, adjust the final volume.

This resulted in the error

An exception of class NilObjectException was not handled. The application must shut down.

Do you adjust the final volume numerically or with the arrows? Is the Lock/Scale checkbox checked? What about the kettle volume lock? Thanks!

I didn't either, but I just got the program and maybe I'm not duplicating the steps. Still trying to find my way around it.

There seems to be a bug in the Infusion Edit window in the Schedule section.

I've been using

It's when I set the Water Temp at 212, the Target Temp at 270, it displays the Water Volume, in this case, at 1.54 gallons. I hit OK, the window closes.

Then, when I open the window with the Edit button, the water volume now is displayed as 1.61 Gallons.

If I set the Water Temp and Volume, a Target Temp is displayed. If I close the window, hit Edit, the Water Volume has again changed.

Ouch. Yeah, that's just a typo, I'm not trying to break the laws of physics or anything like that.

Saving Converted ProMash Files

Postby ColoradoBrewer » Sun Oct 29, 2006 8:39 am

I've run into a problem saving ProMash recipe files. Not sure if this is an actual bug, but I'll report what is happening anyway. When I try to save a recipe that was loaded from ProMash I get the following error message: "Assertion Failure: Assertion(!!(scrCharLens >0)) failed in output.cpp, line 995". My options are to Abort, Retry, or Ignore. I'm not sure if this is a bug because the subject files were ProMash Session files (.brw) converted within ProMash to recipe files (.rec). Now if I look in my folder of BTP recipes I will see the file, but when I try to load it I get an error that it is an invalid XML file (BTW, the file size is 0 bytes). I can save regular ProMash recipes in BTP without any problems.

I just found that, when I go back and edit a completed batch sparge schedule, I change the Mashout volume, hit OK and the Final Volume in the tun changes. The volumes drained, in the steps below, don't change. It looks like this is because the residual volume in my First Runnings Collection step changes to a negative number so the collected volume doesn't change.

I'm not sure if this as a bug or a feature.

I guess this is related to the idea of a lock box for the residual volume, now that I think about it.

If you send me files that give you difficulty I can take a look at them and see if I can find the cause. Most often problems are caused by junk characters that currupt the XML. Thanks!
