Summertime Brews

Post by cozrulz »

After finishing my first batch, a brown ale, I'm starting to think what to brew next. Since summer is coming up, I was looking for some suggestions for a good brew. Right now I'm thinking about going with a cream ale.

In the summer I like a lighter bodied, lower alchohol pale ale with a dry finish and a good citrus bite. That always seems refreshing to me.

Along the lines of the cream ale, a K

A honey wheat would be good too. Great suggestions. This could require a beer run. :D

Well, I finally made a beer run. I got a IPA, cream ale, amber ale, english pale ale, irish ale, and a wheat. Now comes the fun part...testing.

here is the brew I make up for summer time. It is a 6gal batch so you may want to back off the amount of malt to keep the al round 3% for a 5gal batch.

I just tasted a British dark Mild I brewed this month -- It's a beauty, and would be a highly refreshing summertime ale. Classic Mild style, with low alcohol, but a good bit of character from some roasted grains and a hint of British hops on top.

Very clean and fresh, yet dark. See the recipe at http://beertools.com/html/recipe.php?view=6293
