Problem during transfer to secondary fermentor

Post by buzzbeer »

I'm new to this forum and this is my first message. I have brewed three extract beers and am trying to improve. I have just racked a brew from the primary fermentor after 7 days and have a question. As I started to siphon, splashing occured for about one and a half gallons of the five gallon batch. I know you are supposed to avoid this, but is the batch going to be ruined or have a flavor problem due to the splashing (areation)? Thanks for any help

Your beer is not ruined. Every transfer involves slight ariation of the beer. We, the brewers, try to limit that as much as possible as it will shorten the life of the beer in the bottle and may produce slight off flavors.
