opinion on a pale ale recipe

You do know you'll have to mash the 2-row, right? Otherwise if you steep it, you'll extract starch from the grain (unless of course it's steeped at mashing temps, but then again that'd be mashing). Anyhoo... You might consider replacing the 2-row with some more pale extract to simplify your recipe. Another option is to replace the 2-row with some Dextrine Malt or Caramel Malt (10-20L) to give it more body-building and head-retention properties but not alter the color significantly.
