Pronounciation question ?

Post by Azorean Brewer »

Hey team, there are two words I hear pronounced differently and I want to know what is the proper terms?

The first is "SAAZ", is it SOTS (as in lots) , or SOZ (as in OZ) , or SAZ (as in Jazz). If you think about it the automobile SAAB is pronounced SOB (as in JOB) ... any thoughts ?

Second is Rhizomes (hop roots) is the " i " pronounced Rhizomes (as in rinse) or as in rye-zomes.

Thanks ...

Paul.

Dunno really. I guess Saaz is pronounced SAARTZ, but I may be wrong. My dictionary tells me Rhizomes is pronounced RYE-ZOMES.

It's "zaats" (with american spelling). If you speak german, you'd phoneticly spell it "zahtz"

The czech work for it is "zatec" pronounced "jah-tets" The J is pronounced like the second G in "Garage"
