Diabetic

Post by toadswarts »

Im Diabetic and a brittle one at that ,always having uncontrollable blood sugars mostly high
Beer is suppose to be bad for diabetics however ,since ive been drinking my homebrew beer ,mostly before bed.Im waking up with idea blood sugers and have gotten almost perfect control.
Was wondering if any other diabetics have had simular results if so please let me know.
I have contacted a scientist in the field and hes looking in to it

The keys to being a healthy diabetic are to check regularly, and control consistently. You definitely do not want frequent spikes in blood sugar. Are you under care of a specialist, and possibly a dietician? If you do not take insulin, then you have to ask yourself if you are able to control your sugar with your diet. I've known a number of diabetics who say they control with diet, but experience highs and lows.

You may want to compare carb content of beers, as this may be more telling than hunting for specific sugar content. The pump-controlled diabetic in my family gets a higher blood sugar from my fuller beers like stouts, even when the final gravity reading is lower than some lighter ales.

If you say that you are waking up with ideal glucose, I'm wondering what happens at night. Have you tested between midnight and 4:00? I wonder if you are high.
