Thermal Masses

Post by BillyBock »

Does anyone know the thermal mass of the Mini-brew MLT? I ran a test and calculated 0.7. Here's the data I used:

MLT ambient air temp=30F
Volume of water added=4 gal
Temp of water added=144F
Final temp=126F

Thanks in advance.

Forgot to mention the tuns were wrapped in a blanket of aluminized bubble wrap. I believe the R-value is 5.

Not Sure How to Calculate

Post by dartedplus »

Sorry, but I am not sure how to calculate the thermal mass of something. All I know is that the thermal mass of a brew pot sitting in the kitchen is gonna be about .3. I dont know about 30 F. I didnt know there was an equation for it, although I guess there has to be one. Sorry! Ed
