SO I AM A NOVICE BREWER THIS WILL BE MY 8TH BATCH OVER 2 YEARS AND WOULD LIKE TO BREW MORE OFTEN! ASSUMING I CAN BECOME BETTER!!! ANY HOW I BREWED A BATCH LAST NIGHT AND TOOK A VERY DIFFERENT APPROACH AT LEAST AS FAR AS I CAN REMEMBER SO I BREWED AN IPA KIT GRAINS 7LBS MALTEXTRACT W/ AN ADDITIONAL 3LBS OF MALT EXTRACT AND FLAKED RYE W/ 6 HOP ADDITIONS . THIS IS HOW IT WENT DOWN I STEEPED MY GRAINS AND RYE FOR 30-45 MIN. IN 3 GALL. OF WATER ADDED THE 7LBS MALT EXTRACT AND 1OZ OF CHINOOK W/ MINIMAL STIRRING. THIS IS MY FIRST TIME USING A TURKEY FRYER AND ALUMINUM KETTLE WITH 3 GALLONS INSTEAD OF 2. SO THIRTY MINUTES IN TO BOIL I ADD THE OTHER 3LBS OF MALT AS INSTRUCTED BY DUDE AT BEER STORE VERY HELPFUL! 1OZ CASSCADE AND 1OZ GLACIER AT 10 MIN 1OZ COLUMBUS AT 5MIN IOZ GLACIER AT 0 MIN 1 OZ COLUMBUS. ICE BATH TO KETTLE DROPPED TO HUNDRED 125 ADDED ONE GAL OF COLD DRINKING WATER DROPPED TO 100 2ND GALLON DROPPED TO 80 OR SO OVER 15-20 MIN. ADDED IT TO THE CARBOY FUNNELED EVERYTHING ALL THE HOPS AND ALL DID NOT STRAIN ANYTHING OFF! I DONT KNOW IF THIS IS A BAD THING OR NOT ? PITCHED MY YEAST AND ADDED A 1/2 TEASPOON OF YEAST NUTRIENT FIRST TIME AND AGGITATED FOR 5MIN. CAN ANYBODY TELL ME OF ANY CRITICAL MISTAKES OR POINTERS THAT MAY BE HELPFUL? THANKS FOR YOUR TIME :?

Wow, the CAPS are a little much. Makes it a little painful to read.

Anyways, it seems like you did everything fine to me. As long as you sanitized everything good, your beer should be fine.

Next time though, you should constantly stir the batch after you add extract. At least until it comes to a boil. You don't want to risk burning it.
