candi sugar

Post by dartedplus »

I just read on another forum that candi sugar is the same as table sugar. Is there any merit to this???? Now I do know that candi sugar is beet sugar and not cane sugar, but, other than that, if it has the same properties once it goes into the brew as table sugar, then why the hell am I paying almost $5 a pound for it???

Just looking for some clarification

Some table sugar is made from beet sugar. The majority is made with cane sugar. I believe beet sugar has less risidual sweetnes, and won't leave your beer tasting winey like the cane sugar will.
