Can I add cinnamon sticks to secondary?
Finished brewing 10 minutes ago, wort is cooling in the kitchen
. Now the question! I was considering adding cinnamon sticks to my secondary for a Xmasy kind of beer. What do u guys think?

Sounds like a good idea, but I might try boiling the cinnamon sticks in 1-2 cups of water for 10-15 minutes, let the liquid cool and add all of that to the fermenter. This way you are sure not to add contaminants. Anybody else ever try this ? ? ?

pasteurize
Another method, while not truly sterilization, is to pasteurize the sticks. Hold the sticks in water above 70C for 30 mins and then add to fermenter. I have never tried this, but it is another method out there to reduce contamination risk.
