What other industries use these? I'm looking to buy a couple, and would like to do so locally this weekend for my brew on sunday.

Biotech, labs, etc

I'm sure Gravity is using them to feed fish O2 of some sort.
I use them for chemical and biotech fermenters and your local fish store may have SS stones for saltwater fish.
Your best bet is your local homebrew store.
