Another False Bottom Question

What is the optimum size for holes and offset of holes. I see that most false bottoms are 3/32 holes on 5/32 centers, but this is only 33% open area. Would a 1/8 or 5/32 hole be too big???(Both would have 3/16 centers and have 40 and 63% open area respectively)
