I have finally(with your help) solved my extract problem. A new mash paddle was delivered last week and badda bing 8% more extract.
Good bye little spoon, Hello big wooden paddle.

A good piece of lumber in the hands does give one a feeling of power, eh? I took a lesson from Buffalo Bill Owens and started using a small canoe paddle to stir the ol' mash.
