auto-siphon

I have been using the auto siphon and love it, except on my latest usage it was pulling air in from around the o-ring at the end of the dip tube. I cleand it really good and it still does it. Is there a lube or something that I should use? Has anyone else ever had this problem?
I was using it for my transfer to secondary and it pulled a lot of air in with it. I know this is bad but how bad is the question. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
