Sparge Water
What would you expect if you sparged with water that was say 200 degrees.

terrible beer
Sparge water temperatures much over 170 F will leach tannins fromm the grain husks. Tannins cause bitter astringent flavor in the finished beer. I strongly recommend not doing this.

Thanks for that information. Can the hot water have an effect on the attenuation of the yeast in the wort?
