Is it ok to mix yeast strains? Specifically, I use Wyeast and wonder if mixing yeasts was ok? If so, what are some parameters to follow?

It's okay. I would just have a goal in mind. For example, I know of a British brewery that uses a mix of 2 strains, a fast fermenting flocculant strain and a slow-flocculating strain to insure that the beer fully attenuates and conditions properly.
