someone recently suggested to me to try carbonating with dry ice has anyone ever done experiments with this and if so is it even practical?

dry ice
Sounds interesting! It sounds like it could work maybe. But, as for sealing the keg quickly I do not think it has the output required. I say kegging because if you would try bottling you would have absolutely no control over the carbonation.

dry ice
A friend of mine once put a small piece of dry ice into a plastic bottle with some liquid in it. He gave it a shake and the bottle blew into so many little pieces we couldn't find them all. Luckily no one took a piece in the eye. I'd be afraid something similar might happen if you tried to do this, but shards of glass or metal would be even more dangerous.
