Sparge Question

Postby Legman » Sat Jun 07, 2008 12:22 pm

What would be the appropriate grains/water ratio when sparging? Or is there one at all?

I'm batch sparging, if that makes a difference. Thanks.

Batch Sparge Volume

Postby slothrob » Sat Jun 07, 2008 5:28 pm

The optimal volume for a sparge, when batch sparging with a single sparge, is half your desired preboil volume. Once you get over about 1.065, you may want to up your total preboil volume and boil longer to keep your efficiency up where you usually expect it.
