Bottling a lager

Post by brewmeisterintng »

It has been two weeks in the primary (50 degrees) and two weeks in the secondary at approx 45 degrees (chest freezer) plan to bottle next weekend. Is there anything differences than bottling ale? What temp to I bottle condition? Do I add more yeast with the priming sugar in the bottling bucket because of the extended time in the fermenter? I just want to make sure that I am finishing this right as it is my first true lager.

James: As long as you used lager yeast, then you'll be able to bottle condition at the same temps you used for fermenting. You could speed things up by using higher temps, but you may get a small amount of esters.
