Hop Plugs

Post by Jargent »

Quick question.
If I'm using hop plugs, should I put them in hop socks and remove the spent sock from the wort when finished, or just throw the plugs into the wort whole and strain them out when transferring to the primary fermenter? I'm just talking about boiling and finishing hops, not dry hopping.
Thanks!

I would say that either technique is acceptable although I think it is easier to use a hop bag rather than straining out the hops. Strainers are very difficult to sanitize and you run the risk of contaimination. As where the hop bag will be sanitized during the boil.
