Recipe Scaling

Hello,

(This refers to the offline version of BTP): I may have missed it, but it would be nice to create a recipe and then be able to easily scale the ingredient amounts to the desired beer quantity.

ex: make a recipe for 5.5 gals and then next time scale it up to 7 with a click of the mouse.

Thanks! (love the product)

This can easily be accomplished by clicking the lock checkbox next to "Final Volume" in the main window and selecting "Scale" from the mode menu to the right. Adjusting the final volume using this configuration will scale all recipe ingredients.

Jeff I'm hoping for some further improvements to the batch sparge step.

Just Thinking

Jeff and Lathe,
I just want the thank you for putting out a good program for the Mac. We have seem to have been left out from other company's software. Anyway I have emailed jeff before and he has always been great at emailing back. I had suggested and still would like to see a way of tracking inventory. I would also like to see a separation of keeping and/or designing recipes and the actual brewing sessions. I know this is done in the other guys software but it is very helpful for keeping track of the brew day process. Other than those two things I love the program and I can finally throw out my Windows machine.
Thanks,
RDF

Partigyle Mash Designer??

Hi Guys and thanks for including me for the Beta test team!

Will there be any chance of implementing a Partigyle Mash Designer in the near future? Just wondering of what your thoughts are on this request. I invision this feature to be in a typical walk thru MS Wizard form which will prompt the user for either a 2 or 3 run off partigyle mash...the desired final gravities of each beer required..total gallons of each required..maybe have a style combination or drop down box ex: IPA/Pale Ale/Blonde Ale)...and at the end would give the brewer the total lbs of grain required and the total gravity points and OG required, total runoff gallons for each and pre-boil gravities of each.. and maybe a sample grain bill depending on the style combination choice.
It would be important to advise the brewer that the results will only provide a starting point. Also perhaps allow the brewer the ability to enter his actual results in a properties form to the constants to fine tune the wizard.

I have actually been thinking of creating the wizard for my own use and maybe this would make a good example of an add-in.

Speaking of Add-In's.. have you thought of creating BTP with the possibility of letting independant coders to create add-ins and other specialized utilities to broaden the reach and capabilities of the app? Maybe supply an API to create snap-ins etc? Or even a customizable toolbar to let the user add new buttons and link them to let's say an xcell spreadsheet for instance? I know that I would have a use for a feature like this, and I'm sure that others would too.

Just a few thoughts for ya!

Thanks for everything...you guys are doing a great job!

Thanks for the thoughts. Before implementing this capability, the mash schedule will receive new steps that will get extract brewers on board with the schedule. Other steps that have to be added include the "boil" step which will take over the evaporation calculation done currently using the kettle volume, evap. rate, boil time, etc. fields in the main window. The idea is to have the entire brewing process mapped by the schedule; not just the mash. These items are the current priorities which will have to be completed before parti-gyle and the plugin architecture are explored.

Jeff,

I do understand that their are other higher priority improvements to be made, and I know that you probably have your plate pretty full. But do you think that this request is doable at all? I guess i'm just wondering what your thoughts are to these requests.

Thanks again for all your hard work!

Jeff/Lathe-

Will there be a color formula selection option in the beta? I was pushing for this option during the alpha testing phase.

I wish I could get that feature to you sooner, but I have to work on filling the major holes first.

New BJCP guidelines...

Just a 'heads up' re the BJCP guidelines. They have been revised for 2008 and there are some important changes that should be updated in the style guidelines database for BTP.

For inquiring minds, HERE is a .pdf of the changes.

I was just gonna post the same info TCB. I wonder if they will be incorporated into the new beta.

Thanks for the heads up. I will take a look at them so I can decide if they should run concurrent or replace the old. Any thoughts?

Hi, thanks for the invite to the beta program - looking forward to helping out!

My request is that the whole section on vessels include some instructions, or at least some presents (kegs, 5 gallon steel kettles, etc...) The whole process of entering exact measurements is quite tedious, especially if changing equipment at the last minute. So, having presets that could be tweaked easily would make life better for us (or myself, at least).

Replace the old. The changes aren't that dramatic.
